Overview:

DSJ Global, a leadingE2E supply chain and manufacturing recruitment firm is currently partnered with an industrial equipment manufacturing organization who are looking to add a Director of Engineering to their team in Charlotte, NC.

Role Summary:

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the Project Engineering and Project Design departments to successful execution of projects across the organization.

As the Project Engineer you will:

  • Serve as a member of the Business Unit leadership team, providing both tactical direction and strategic insight
  • Lead, mentor, and unify Project Engineering and Project Design into a cohesive high-performing team
  • Cultivate a high-performance environment that values action, accountability, and continuous development
  • Model urgency, ownership, and results-driven behavior to set the tone for team culture
  • Establish clear KPIs and expectations ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Facilitate structured performance rhythms, including regular 1:1s, team huddles, and recurring department and cross functional meetings to promote communication, resolve roadblocks, and maintain execution momentum
  • Support escalation efforts to mitigate risks before they affect scope, schedule, cost, or customer satisfaction
  • Manage and schedule all engineering workloads, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and deliverables are met
  • Lead weekly engineering meetings to facilitate on-time and on-budget project milestones
  • Drive adherence to Key Milestone Guidelines, ensuring consistent execution across the full project lifecycle
  • Ensure all field service documentation are complete, accurate, and delivered on time
  • Lead creation and population of CompanyCam folders with all necessary documentation for efficient execution
  • Serve as technical escalation point for complex mechanical, structural, or process challenges
  • Oversee scheduling and resourcing of all design activities to ensure efficiency and responsiveness

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and management skills in a complex project engineering environment
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes in challenging situations
  • High proficiency in project engineering/design processes and tools (e.g., SolidWorks, RISA, etc.)
  • High level of knowledge/experience with applying engineering principles to electro-mechanical equipment
  • Registered Professional Engineering License a plus
  • Experience with industrial level controls is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered; PMP, PE, or MBA a plus
