Engineering Manager
Overview
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for developing and executing the plant's technical strategy, with a focus on engineering projects, maintenance excellence, and stores optimization. The position leads plant-level engineering and maintenance initiatives that support low‑loss production, vertical startup processes, and Early Management programs.
You will provide technical solutions to production challenges, oversee the plant's technical organization, and collaborate with cross-functional and corporate partners to drive performance, safety, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion plant safety as the top priority, driving initiatives that ensure a safe work environment for all employees
- Lead the development and execution of the plant capital plan in partnership with cross-functional teams including Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Finance, and Environmental
- Partner with centralized engineering leadership to allocate resources for projects, including project management, technical expertise, and startup support
- Drive continuous improvement efforts, including support for internal audits and operational excellence programs
- Provide direction and leadership for Early Management (EM) initiatives, establishing both short- and long-term plant goals
- Deliver technical leadership for project execution at both plant and broader organizational levels
- Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams focused on improving safety, quality, efficiency, cost performance, and customer service
- Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments to optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency
- Oversee plant utilities, ensuring reliable operation and compliance across systems such as refrigeration, ammonia, nitrogen, steam, natural gas, and compressed air
- Lead team meetings and development efforts to support engagement, alignment, and performance
- Partner closely with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Warehouse teams to maintain a high-performing plant environment
- Provide direction and coordination for maintenance-related mechanical and administrative activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in a food or consumer goods manufacturing environment
- Must have ammonia and/ or refrigeration experience
- Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and influencing cross-functional teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present across all levels of a manufacturing organization
- Experience with CAD software
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Flexibility to support rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
