HNG Maintenance Superintendent
SJ Global is partnered with a top paper company to hire a Maintenanc Manager to lead craft professionals in a fast-paced, high-volume industrial manufacturing facility. This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement while driving execution of daily maintenance operations and long-term reliability strategies.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who brings a blend of technical expertise, coaching ability, and proactive problem-solving to enhance asset reliability, reduce downtime, and contribute to organizational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Promote a culture of safety ownership and hazard elimination through frontline engagement and coaching.
Support skill development and team growth through mentoring, problem-solving, and clear performance expectations.
Foster accountability and employee involvement in continuous improvement and safe work practices.
Maintenance Execution & Reliability
Supervise daily maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and allocate resources to meet operational priorities.
Partner with engineering, reliability, and operations to identify unplanned needs and schedule planned outages.
Drive execution of precision maintenance practices to ensure asset health and uptime.
Monitor work quality, adherence to standards, and provide guidance to enhance efficiency and craftsmanship.
Planning & Communication
Translate work plans into clear daily assignments with defined milestones.
Ensure coordination across departments to align maintenance priorities with production goals.
Support accurate CMMS usage, work order closure, and reporting.
Operational & Technical Excellence
Apply data-driven approaches to reduce downtime, improve process efficiencies, and support root cause analysis.
Participate in key site initiatives including safety programs, performance reviews, and maintenance planning cycles.
Leverage cross-functional teams to develop strategies that enhance reliability, compliance, and asset life cycles.
Basic Qualifications
Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with direct reports.
Hands-on maintenance background in a production setting.
Proficiency with CMMS platforms for tracking work orders and maintenance history.
Experience implementing or supporting precision maintenance practices.
Industry experience in packaging, pulp & paper, plastics, food & beverage, or similar continuous-process manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
Experience with Lean manufacturing, TPM, or other CI methodologies.
Familiarity with OSHA PSM (Process Safety Management) and/or VPP (Voluntary Protection Program).
Background in converting operations and equipment.
