Purpose of the Role
As the Human Resources Manager for our Big Flats, NY location, you will serve as the front‑line HR partner for both the Big Flats and Mohnton production facilities. Acting as a true HR Business Partner, you will support managers on all HR‑related matters including employee relations, performance management, talent development, coaching, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning.
You will work closely with HR Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits) and partner directly with the Head of HR and the Director of Manufacturing to drive a strong people agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational HR expertise to the Director of Manufacturing and site employee population across payroll, labor relations, recruitment, talent management, and internal communications.
- Identify and address HR‑related issues impacting internal programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to business strategy by building organizational capabilities, structures, and processes.
- Partner with managers to forecast and plan talent pipeline needs in alignment with business strategy.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure high‑quality, timely, and compliant hiring processes.
- Support seamless, well‑planned recruitment, onboarding, promotions, and exits to continuously improve organizational capability.
- Implement effective learning and development interventions.
- Drive core people processes (performance, development, career planning) to meet current and future needs.
- Lead or support HR projects aligned to the annual HR operational plan.
- Develop feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement of HR services.
- Execute HR policies and reward strategies to ensure fairness, objectivity, and competitiveness.
- Coach managers and employees, elevating leadership capability and organizational performance.
- Foster engagement, collaboration, and cultural alignment within teams.
- Immerse yourself in client departments to understand goals, challenges, and workforce dynamics.
- Champion diversity and inclusion across all people processes.
- Proactively assess talent needs and build aggressive strategies to attract, engage, and retain the right talent.
Skills & Experience
- Proven HR success in a multi‑site manufacturing environment, including experience with expansions, facility changes, and labor market analysis.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR programs (FMLA, FLSA, retirement programs, etc.).
- Experience in both union and non‑union environments.
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to independently manage workload and priorities.
- Experience in fast‑paced, global organizations.
- Knowledge of both "hard" HR (compensation, benefits, labor relations) and "soft" HR (talent management, engagement, L&D, recruitment).
- Experience supporting plant operations and working closely with operational leadership.
- Strong relationship‑building, influencing, and problem‑solving skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking capability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of HR management experience in the food industry.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
