Position Summary:
Our client are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Indirect Category Manager to lead sourcing and procurement activities for indirect spend categories across our chemical manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost optimization while ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key indirect categories such as MRO, Facilities Management, IT, Professional Services, and Capital Equipment.
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes including RFPs, contract negotiations, supplier selection, and performance management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, finance, legal) to understand business needs and ensure procurement strategies support operational goals.
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for cost savings and value creation.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on category performance metrics, savings, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support sustainability and risk mitigation initiatives within the supply base.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA or relevant certification preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in indirect procurement/category management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and procurement tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations is a plus.
