Maintenance Manager

DSJ Global is partnered with a top food company to hire a Maintenance Manager in North Carolina.

The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of 70 maintenance employees in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is essential in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and upholding safety and food quality standards. The successful candidate will drive maintenance excellence through team leadership, predictive maintenance strategies, and cross-functional collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Direct, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and support staff.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure proper staffing, training, scheduling, and performance management.

  • Address employee relations issues and administer performance feedback, including appraisals and corrective actions.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/CBM) programs.

  • Monitor and analyze KPIs such as equipment uptime, MTTR, and downtime trends.

  • Drive reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Manage the annual maintenance budget with a focus on cost-effective practices.

  • Oversee spare parts inventory and procurement to prevent production delays.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while ensuring operational efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance practices comply with OSHA, food safety (HACCP, GMP), and environmental regulations.

  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure all personnel are properly trained in safety protocols.

  • Maintain documentation and readiness for audits and inspections.

Equipment & System Management

  • Oversee installation, repair, and upkeep of plant machinery and utilities.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and QA to resolve issues and maintain equipment standards.

  • Support capital projects and new equipment integration.

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and equipment reliability.

  • Lead root cause analyses (RCAs) and corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures.

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.

  • 5-10+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a high-volume industrial or manufacturing plant.

  • Food processing/manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

  • Deep understanding of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP).

  • Proficient in CMMS systems; experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
