Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team within a manufacturing or industrial facility. This role ensures that equipment and machinery are maintained to support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the supervisor leads a team of technicians in executing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing direction, training, and performance feedback.
  • Develop and execute maintenance schedules, work orders, and inspections to reduce downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify equipment issues, safety hazards, or areas for improvement, and take corrective action.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform or coordinate timely repairs.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory of tools and spare parts.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Monitor maintenance-related expenses and optimize resource utilization to stay within budget.
  • Provide regular updates to the Maintenance Manager on team performance, equipment status, and key metrics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and root cause analysis.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in maintenance software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs outside of standard working hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in a related field (e.g., mechanical or electrical systems).
  • Professional certification in maintenance or reliability (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional).
