Major Projects Contracts Lead
Overview
A leading utilities organization is seeking a Contracts Lead to oversee post-award contract management across large-scale capital projects.
This role will drive contract execution, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment across complex engineering and construction programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all post-award contract management activities, including change orders, amendments, renewals, and closeouts
- Ensure supplier performance and compliance against contractual, safety, and service-level requirements
- Act as the primary liaison between project teams, suppliers, and legal stakeholders
- Manage and resolve contractual disputes, ensuring alignment with agreed terms and commercial objectives
- Lead complex contract negotiations and advise senior stakeholders on contracting strategy
- Drive process improvements and governance frameworks across contract management practices
- Partner with Project Management, Engineering, and PMO leadership to ensure successful project delivery
- Mentor and guide junior contract management staff and promote best practices across the organization
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience managing contracts for major capital or construction projects
- Expertise in engineering/construction contract structures (e.g., EPC, CMAR, Design-Build, GMP)
- Strong background in post-award contract management and change order execution
- Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and dispute resolution
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders (PMO, Engineering, Legal)
- Familiarity with procurement/contract systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba)
