Master Scheduler

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Master Production Scheduler to lead production planning, scheduling, and capacity management activities within a complex operational environment.

This position is responsible for translating customer demand, inventory requirements, capacity constraints, and business priorities into an executable production plan while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive schedule attainment, operational performance, and customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the master production schedule.
  • Balance demand, capacity, labor, materials, and operational priorities.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and adjust plans as business conditions change.
  • Drive improvements in throughput, capacity utilization, backlog management, and on-time delivery.
  • Identify production constraints and implement solutions to support operational performance.

Capacity Planning & Analysis

  • Lead short- and long-range capacity planning initiatives.
  • Analyze production demand against available resources.
  • Evaluate labor, equipment, material, and operational requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks and communicate risks to leadership.
  • Support strategic decisions regarding capacity optimization and resource allocation.

Systems & Data Management

  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems and reporting tools to support planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain analytical reports, dashboards, and planning metrics.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Improve visibility, accuracy, and accessibility of planning information.
  • Drive automation and process improvements across planning functions.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and develop production planning personnel.
  • Establish priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
  • Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, capacity constraints, and business risks.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience leading a production planning or scheduling function.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong capacity planning and manufacturing operations knowledge.
  • Advanced ERP/MRP system proficiency.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • SQL experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex planning environments and drive operational improvements.
