Plant Manager
Position Summary:
The Plant Manager oversees a cross-functional team to ensure operational targets are consistently achieved, with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental stewardship. This role carries full accountability for plant operations, including production, quality assurance, equipment reliability, and workplace safety. A key focus is guiding the facility's evolution toward a high-performing Lean Manufacturing culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Champion and continuously improve safety and environmental protocols to protect employees and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Direct daily plant operations to meet financial and performance objectives aligned with broader organizational goals. Areas of oversight may include production, maintenance, engineering, logistics, quality, finance, and administration.
- Develop and execute strategies aimed at cost efficiency, product quality, equipment optimization, and seamless integration of new products.
- Lead strategic initiatives to elevate operational excellence, safety outcomes, and environmental performance.
- Establish and maintain controls over expenditures, staffing, and compensation to ensure fiscal discipline.
- Track and enhance plant performance metrics related to output and quality.
- Inspire and develop team members to achieve exceptional results through Lean principles, skill-building, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging employee feedback and continuous improvement across all operational areas.
- Provide hands-on leadership in resolving critical production challenges to maintain output, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee local engineering efforts to deliver customized solutions and optimize cost structures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; MBA preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent training is highly desirable.
- 7-10 years of leadership experience in manufacturing or remanufacturing environments.
- Background in industries with stringent standards (e.g., aerospace, automotive safety, pharmaceuticals).
- Solid understanding of financial management, including P&L and budgeting.
- Proven track record managing diverse operational functions such as production, engineering, logistics, maintenance, quality, HR, and EHS.
- Deep expertise in Lean methodologies and process optimization, with hands-on implementation experience.
- Strong leadership skills in managing diverse teams within a participative, empowerment-driven culture.
- Experience overseeing operational costs and capital/maintenance budgets.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, with a history of improving safety metrics.
- Experience working in unionized environments is preferred or required depending on location.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and team-building capabilities.
