Procurement Director of APAC
Key Responsibilities
1. Regional Leadership & People Management
- Lead and manage regional procurement teams using structured processes for performance reviews, merit decisions, recruitment, development, and workforce planning.
- Support both tactical and strategic planning for the function, ensuring alignment with regional and global business priorities.
- Manage the procurement budget and ensure optimal use of resources within the region.
2. Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimization
- Drive regional procurement optimization through synergy initiatives, dual-region/dual‑sourcing strategies, supplier scouting, and cost‑reduction programs.
- Lead execution of regional cost reduction plans, serving as focal point or project owner for initiatives impacting multiple manufacturing locations.
- Ensure procurement strategy is aligned with regional operational needs and long‑term business goals.
3. Supplier Management & Category Strategy
- Identify and propose regional suppliers for commercial, supplier development, and new project needs.
- Strengthen supplier partnerships to ensure stability, competitiveness, quality, and technological capability-particularly in critical components and materials.
- Govern contract negotiations, renewals, approval workflows, and supplier risk assessments.
4. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, standards, and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage supply‑related risks including continuity, geopolitical exposure, material availability, and market volatility.
- Maintain accurate, auditable procurement documentation, analytics, and reporting dashboards.
5. Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Oversee Supplier Development, New Project Introduction, and Commercial Teams within the region, ensuring tight alignment with local operations.
- Drive delivery, quality improvement, and efficiency initiatives across manufacturing sites.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, and project management teams to support new product launches and operational performance.
6. Transformation, Innovation & Sustainability
- Lead procurement transformation programs and champion best‑practice adoption across the region.
- Promote sustainability initiatives, ethical sourcing, and responsible procurement frameworks.
- Mentor and develop procurement professionals, building organizational capability and succession pipelines.
7. Regional Key Account Interface
- Act as the primary procurement contact for regional operations, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and prompt issue escalation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (CIPS, CPSM, etc.) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive procurement experience, including 3-5 years in regional or multi‑site leadership roles within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, category strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Proven track record leading savings initiatives and achieving significant regional cost reductions.
- Proficiency with ERP and e‑procurement systems (SAP, Oracle) and spend analytics tools.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Analytical and data‑driven mindset; strong problem‑solving capability.
- Experience with risk management, compliance, and procurement governance frameworks.
- Ability to travel regionally (approximately 40%) as business needs require.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
