Procurement Manager
The ideal candidate will have experience within food manufacturing, strong knowledge of import/export logistics, and a proven background managing supplier relationships and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop purchasing forecasts based on historical demand, sales initiatives, and market trends.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective planning and inventory management strategies.
- Anticipate future sales requirements to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
- Monitor meat industry trends, supply market conditions, and pricing through industry resources and market intelligence tools.
- Attend industry conferences and events to strengthen market knowledge and supplier networks.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure all certifications and compliance documentation remain current.
- Oversee import documentation and support compliance requirements, including SQF audit standards.
- Source products from domestic packers, distributors, and import channels to maintain a reliable and competitive supply chain.
- Partner with sales and commercial teams to provide market insights and supply chain updates.
- Prepare and distribute regular market reports on industry trends, supply challenges, and market conditions.
- Coordinate customs clearance activities and resolve import-related issues.
- Work closely with production teams to communicate incoming inventory and support production planning.
- Manage import documentation and ensure all required shipping and quality records are completed accurately.
Qualifications
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or purchasing within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, logistics, and compliance requirements.
- Experience utilizing market intelligence tools and analyzing industry trends.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to develop and execute supply chain and procurement strategies.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SQF standards and audit requirements is preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food processing or food manufacturing.
