Position Overview

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to drive the development of complex mechanical products from concept through production. This individual will provide technical leadership for new product development initiatives, collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams, and help deliver innovative, high-quality products that meet customer, performance, and business objectives.

This role offers the opportunity to influence product strategy, mentor engineers, and contribute to the advancement of next-generation consumer products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies for new and existing products.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Develop product specifications, engineering requirements, and design documentation.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and product release packages.
• Coordinate verification and validation activities to ensure products meet performance and reliability targets.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and operations teams to optimize product design for production efficiency.
• Facilitate root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for field and manufacturing issues.
• Manage engineering changes, design revisions, and product improvements throughout the lifecycle of a product.
• Collaborate with suppliers on component development, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, and product enhancement projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 3+ years of product design or mechanical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success in technical projects from concept through commercialization.
• Strong background in new product introduction, product improvement, and cross-functional project execution.
• Experience working directly with manufacturing teams to improve product quality and production efficiency.
• Proficiency with modern CAD and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in consumer products, durable goods, industrial equipment, or engineered products manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Hands-on experience with risk assessment and reliability methodologies such as FMEA and DOE.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA), computational modeling, or other engineering simulation tools.
• Understanding of project management methodologies and stage-gate product development processes.
• Experience working with domestic and international suppliers.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
