Product Marketing Manager

DSJ Global is currently partnered with a leading Agriculture company seeking a Product Marketing Manager to champion a leading animal nutrition brand. This role involves managing product lines distributed through retail, company-owned stores, ecommerce platforms, and dealer networks. The Product Marketing Manager will serve as the champion of assigned products, represent the voice of the customer, and act as a well-connected industry expert. Key responsibilities include tracking market trends, supporting the Sales team, and driving competitive and profitable product development. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, leadership, and interpersonal skills, as the Product Marketing Manager will work cross-functionally across the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of products and product lines, identifying opportunities for new introductions, updates, or retirements.
  • Contribute to defining product specifications, including performance, quality, and customer perception.
  • Maintain expertise in your category by monitoring competitors, market trends, pricing strategies, and conducting SWOT analyses to identify paths to success.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead innovation and planning efforts, leveraging internal capabilities and market insights to grow the category and product portfolio. Key partners include Sales, Finance, R&D, Operations, Regulatory, and Legal.
  • Act as the voice of the customer by working with Sales, Nutrition, Production, Procurement, and customers to shape a multi-year product vision and roadmap.
  • Lead medium- and long-term product planning, including managing product lifecycles, initiating development projects, launching line extensions, and phasing out underperforming products based on market analysis.
  • Generate forecasts and reports on sales trends, promotional cycles, and seasonal fluctuations. Maintain category reports on profitability and volume, track new product launches, evaluate promotional success, and analyze trends by dealer and region.
  • Analyze and project profitability trends for individual product lines and the overall category.
  • Partner closely with Marketing Services and Sales to strategically plan, coordinate, and execute marketing initiatives aligned with business goals.
  • Manage brand budget allocation and oversight.
  • Support brand forecasting and annual product planning.
  • Build and maintain agency relationships, leading integrated brand planning with external partners.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Ag Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Product or Brand Management, with a focus on brand strategy, innovation, and product lifecycle management.
  • Prior experience in the animal feed or agricultural industry, especially in equine, poultry, and livestock segments, is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Proven capability to work cross-functionally and across organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid financial acumen and understanding of sound business principles.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple major projects simultaneously.
