An industry leading Food production firm is looking for a Manager, Quality & Food Safety to lead the quality & food safety functions in one of their key facilities in the Tri-Cities Washington Area

The FSQA Manager will oversee all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions within the FDA/USDA regulated facility and ensure operations are in line with regulations and standards . Reporting directly to the Director of Quality & Food Safety, the FSQA Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing and upholding operational KPIs, SOPs and best-practices that align with company and industry quality standards.

The ideal Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager candidate will have the following skill set:

  • 5+ years of progressive Quality experience in a high-volume food manufacturing or food processing environment
  • 2+ years' of proven leadership in operations, with a track record of driving continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field strongly preferred; equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Extensive audit experience, including internal, third-party, and regulatory audits
  • Hands-on experience with FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA, and other regulatory compliance frameworks
  • PCQI certification highly desirable
  • Multi-site quality management experience a plus, especially in matrixed or global organizations
  • Deep understanding of ISO 22000, GMP, HACCP, SQF, BRC, and other food safety and quality management systems
  • Exceptional data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on risk mitigation and preventive controls
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating across departments, including R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs
  • Experience with digital quality systems, ERP platforms, and real-time quality monitoring tools a plus

The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Director of Quality, aligning on strategic goals, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic quality programs to build a high-performing, autonomous Quality team across a multi-shift production environment
  • Maintain proactive relationships with USDA, FDA, and other regulatory agencies, ensuring audit readiness and timely communication of compliance updates
  • Oversee customer complaint resolution, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, HACCP, and food safety standards, while reviewing and approving quality documentation and batch records
  • Provide QA/QC support across all plant operations, troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement
  • Manage quality systems for raw material receipt, storage, and distribution, ensuring regulatory and customer compliance
  • Develop and deliver short- and long-term quality plans, supporting capacity planning, risk mitigation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Monitor and report plant-wide safety and quality performance using KPIs, dashboards, and real-time metrics
  • Validate and calibrate quality measurement systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Establish and maintain SOPs, KPIs, and training programs to foster a culture of quality excellence and regulatory compliance
