Quality Technician (2nd Shift)
Position Overview
A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Technician to support product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance across production operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring products meet established specifications, supporting investigations into quality deviations, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Compliance
- Conduct internal audits and equipment calibrations to verify food safety and product quality standards.
- Investigate product deviations and customer complaints, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with food safety programs, regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and internal standards.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of SQF and other food safety systems.
- Review production records and quality documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Collaborate with operations and other departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Perform testing and inspections on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Accurately document test results and maintain records to support traceability requirements.
- Troubleshoot laboratory and testing equipment as needed.
- Assist with validation activities for production lines, equipment, and quality processes.
- Escalate food safety and quality concerns and participate in corrective action efforts.
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Support facility-wide safety initiatives and maintain safe work practices.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of quality assurance or quality control experience, preferably within food manufacturing.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Experience with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and food safety certification programs.
- Familiarity with regulatory certifications such as Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, or similar standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a food manufacturing environment with exposure to common food allergens and ingredients.
