Senior Global Commodity manager- Metals
The Senior Global Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for assigned raw material categories, driving performance across cost, quality, delivery, and supplier reliability. This role partners closely with business leaders to optimize supplier relationships, deliver cost savings, mitigate risk, and support operational objectives on a global scale. Acting as a sourcing subject matter expert, the Sr. GCM leads cross-functional initiatives, mentors team members, and influences senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management
- Heavy raw materials sourcing / Commodity expereicne - Aluminum, Steel, Copper, Brass, Copper wire.
- Direct experince sourcing with steel mills or aluminum mills.
- Develop and execute global commodity strategies aligned with business goals.
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and sourcing initiatives.
- Drive annual cost savings, value improvement, and supply continuity.
- Monitor raw material markets, industry trends, and supply chain risks.
Supplier Performance & Quality
- Manage global supplier relationships and performance reviews.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality, delivery, and operational standards.
- Lead issue resolution, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with suppliers to improve efficiency and eliminate non-value-added costs.
Contracting & Risk Management
- Negotiate domestic and international supplier agreements.
- Collaborate with legal teams on terms, conditions, intellectual property, liability, and compliance matters.
- Maintain awareness of global regulatory requirements and business practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead cross-functional and global sourcing projects.
- Influence stakeholders across operations, engineering, quality, and finance.
- Mentor and develop sourcing and procurement team members.
- Communicate commodity strategies, market insights, and results to senior leadership.
Operational Excellence
- Apply should-cost modeling, total cost of ownership (TCO), and financial analysis to sourcing decisions.
- Leverage data and market intelligence to drive continuous improvement and business performance.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; CPSM, CPM, or CPIM certification preferred.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience.
- Minimum 5 years of commodity management or strategic sourcing experience.
- Demonstrated success delivering sourcing strategies, supplier performance improvements, and cost optimization in a global environment.
