Sourcing Specialist (Product Development) - SDA
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established international consumer products company with a strong global presence. Due to continued business growth, they are seeking a Sourcing Specialist (Product Development) to join their sourcing and product development team, supporting the development and commercialization of innovative Small Domestic Appliance (SDA) products for international markets.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on sourcing professional who enjoys working closely with suppliers, engineering teams, and international stakeholders from concept through mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end sourcing and product development process for SDA products, including kitchen appliances, personal care products, floor care, and home appliances.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new supplier and manufacturing partners across China and Asia.
- Work closely with factories, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders on product development, tooling, sampling, testing, and production readiness.
- Drive supplier negotiations on pricing, quality, lead time, tooling costs, and commercial terms.
- Coordinate product costing exercises and provide competitive sourcing recommendations.
- Monitor project timelines to ensure product launches are delivered on time and within budget.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, BOMs, and product requirements to ensure manufacturability.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Compliance teams to ensure products meet international regulatory and customer requirements.
- Conduct supplier visits, factory audits, and business reviews to maintain strong supplier relationships and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze market trends, industry innovations, and new manufacturing technologies to enhance product competitiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Development, Business, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 3-5 years of sourcing, product development, or project management experience within the Small Domestic Appliances (SDA) industry.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and manufacturing processes for appliances, electronics, or consumer durable products.
- Experience working directly with OEM and ODM manufacturers in China.
- Good understanding of product development lifecycle, tooling, testing, certification, and commercialization processes.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced sourcing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/PLM systems.
- Fluent in English and Chinese.
- Willingness to travel to factories within China.
