Senior Transportation Manager
A foodservice organization is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager to oversee a large-scale transportation operation supporting regional delivery and distribution activities. This role is responsible for leading transportation managers, driving a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the successful daily execution of outbound transportation. The ideal candidate will have experience developing leaders, managing complex transportation operations, and driving performance through others in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a team of Transportation Managers through coaching, performance management, training, and leadership development.
  • Drive a people-first culture focused on safety, service, operational execution, and accountability.
  • Oversee daily transportation operations, ensuring successful dispatch execution, driver readiness, and service performance.
  • Analyze operational metrics and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, customer service, and cost performance.
  • Partner closely with operations, warehouse, HR, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
  • Build and maintain high-performing transportation teams through effective hiring, retention, engagement, and succession planning.
  • Support compliance with DOT regulations, safety programs, company policies, and labor relations where applicable.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, waste reduction, and service reliability.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of transportation, distribution, logistics, fleet, or delivery leadership experience.
  • Previous experience managing managers and developing leadership teams.
  • Strong background in high-volume distribution, transportation, foodservice, grocery, beverage, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success building safety-focused cultures and leading operational performance improvements.
  • Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience analyzing operational KPIs and using data to drive decision-making and accountability.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation best practices, and multi-site operations preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Salem/Woodburn area and support a Monday-Friday schedule with an early morning start time.
