Senior Purchasing Analyst

About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Purchasing Analyst to support direct material sourcing and supplier management activities across multiple commodity categories. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Manufacturing teams while helping drive supplier performance, cost savings, and material availability for production and new product initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional looking to expand their sourcing responsibilities, develop supplier relationships, and gain exposure to a variety of manufacturing commodities including electronic components, plastics, mechanical parts, and metal components.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage sourcing and procurement activities for direct materials supporting manufacturing operations.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships while driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
- Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, lead times, contracts, and service levels.
- Support new supplier identification, qualification, and onboarding efforts.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Operations teams to support production schedules and new product launches.
- Analyze market trends, supply risks, and commodity pricing to support sourcing strategies.
- Manage purchase orders, supplier communications, and material availability requirements.
- Participate in cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to support purchasing and planning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or buyer experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with direct materials, suppliers, and manufacturing operations.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- ERP/MRP experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, Infor, or similar).
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
