Vice President of Procurement
We are supporting a leading renewable energy owner, operator, and developer on their search for a Vice President, of Procurement. This executive leadership role is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the procurement and contracting function supporting a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The Vice President will develop sourcing strategies, lead negotiations for major equipment and construction agreements, oversee supplier and contractor relationships, and ensure commercial strategies align with project cost, schedule, quality, and risk objectives. This individual will operate at both a strategic and execution level, partnering closely with development, engineering, construction, finance, legal, asset management, and executive leadership teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement and contracting strategies aligned with project development, financing, investment, and construction schedules
- Lead sourcing, evaluation, and contract award activities for major equipment packages, EPC agreements, balance-of-plant scopes, and other critical project services
- Lead negotiations of term sheets, equipment supply agreements, EPC contracts, and definitive commercial agreements
- Partner with legal and internal stakeholders to ensure competitive commercial outcomes and appropriate allocation of project risk
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, suppliers, and strategic service providers
- Monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, logistics constraints, trade developments, and other factors impacting project cost and schedule
- Establish procurement, contract administration, approval, governance, and reporting processes to support a growing project portfolio
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing procurement and contracting organization
- Oversee post-award commercial administration including contract compliance, milestone payments, securities, change orders, claims, warranties, and project closeout activities
- Support project teams in resolving supplier performance issues, disputes, and commercial challenges while protecting contractual rights
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to executive leadership regarding procurement strategy, commercial risk, and project execution
- Participate in supplier, investor, lender, and project stakeholder discussions as the senior procurement and contracting representative
- Support project financing requirements including lender diligence, commercial reviews, domestic content considerations, and supply chain compliance requirements
- Drive continuous improvement within procurement, sourcing, and contracting practices across the organization
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, supply chain, business, finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of increasing responsibility within procurement, contracting, commercial management, supply chain, or project execution functions
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including contract risk allocation and project economics
- Proven experience negotiating complex, high-value equipment supply, EPC, construction, and commercial agreements
- Demonstrated success leading procurement, contracting, or commercial organizations
- Experience collaborating across engineering, construction, development, finance, legal, and asset management teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- MBA, JD, or relevant professional certifications
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, transmission, substations, wind, or power generation projects
- Experience building or scaling procurement and contracting functions
- Familiarity with project finance structures, lender requirements, domestic content programs, tax incentives, logistics, and supply chain traceability
- Experience with procurement, ERP, contract lifecycle management, and analytics platforms
- Strong understanding of renewable energy supply chains and utility-scale infrastructure development
