Summary:
A leading manufacturer is seeking a strategic and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the Control Department at its new production facility. This role is ideal for leader with expertise in automation and control systems who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Control Engineers supporting plant control systems.
- Oversee reliability and optimization of PLCs, DCS, QCS, and WIS across the facility.
- Manage departmental budget and vendor/service contracts.
- Support capital projects, system upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and participate in proactive safety programs.
- Coordinate software updates, backups, and troubleshooting for control systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve product quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Maintain technical skill inventory and training plans for department personnel.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during weekends or altered schedules as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in control within a manufacturing setting
- Strong background in paper industry control systems, including QCS and WIS.
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams
- Skilled in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and structured problem-solving (Lean, Six Sigma, RCA).
- Experience in capital project management and cross-departmental coordination.
- Willingness to work in an on-call capacity
