Warehouse Director (Nights)
A major food client of mine is hiring for a Director of Warehouse Operation, responsible for leading overnight distribution center activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and service-focused operation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership for night shift warehouse operations, ensuring performance objectives related to safety, productivity, quality, service, and cost are consistently achieved.
- Foster a culture centered around employee safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse leadership teams, including managers and supervisors, to strengthen performance and build bench strength.
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and professional development initiatives across hourly and salaried teams.
- Ensure efficient warehouse workflows, including receiving, replenishment, inventory control, order selection, loading, and shipping activities.
- Analyze operational and financial metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements, productivity gains, and cost reductions.
- Champion the use of warehouse technology, inventory systems, and operational tools to improve service levels and workforce efficiency.
- Maintain inventory integrity by monitoring accuracy, investigating variances, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee facility and equipment maintenance programs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with transportation, sales, supply chain, and other internal partners to improve customer service and operational performance.
- Support labor relations activities in unionized environments, including contract interpretation, employee relations, grievance resolution, and disciplinary processes when applicable
Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive warehouse, distribution, or logistics management experience
- Experience leading large teams in high-volume distribution center environments
- Prior leadership responsibility within foodservice, grocery, retail, cold-chain, or consumer goods distribution is preferred
