Summary:
A global leading petrochemical manufacturing company is looking for a new Senior Project Engineering Specialist. This individual will indepently lead projects at their site in Sauget, IL. This is a full time and fuly on site position.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies project execution strategies that align with business and operational needs while fitting within broader capital planning and corporate direction.
- Leads technical and administrative efforts to meet project requirements, ensuring alignment with scope, design standards, safety protocols, schedule, and budget.
- Prioritizes safety as the top concern by developing and clearly communicating a comprehensive project safety plan.
- Ensures the engineering team is aligned with project goals and deliverables, maintaining close coordination with the Project Leadership Team.
- Establishes a clear communication structure for the project team, including tools, meeting schedules, decision-making criteria, and defined roles and responsibilities.
- Develops the SAP Work Breakdown Structure to support effective cost tracking, project management, and final asset settlement.
- Oversees the development of engineering, procurement, and construction strategies that reflect industry best practices.
- Provides regular project status updates to key stakeholders through written reports and in-person reviews.
- Implements detailed cost and schedule controls to monitor progress and communicates updates to the Project Leadership Team.
- Works with the Project Leadership Team to define and enforce a strict scope change management process following project approval.
- Organizes the project start-up team early in the process, clearly defining roles and integrating start-up planning into detailed design engineering.
- Coordinates with the HSE&S department to obtain necessary permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships across departments, including executive leadership, construction, HSE&S, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, procurement, and contract administration.
- Ensures proper project closure and final asset settlement.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proactive leadership with strong team-building capabilities
- Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on efficiency and detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in project management
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the petrochemical industry
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20%
