Automation Engineer (M/F/D)
Our client is a global leader in food ingredients and fermentation technologies, currently undergoing a major engineering transformation. With significant multi‑million‑euro capital investments approved and a strong international project pipeline, the company is expanding its technical capabilities and establishing a new Engineering Excellence Centre for automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the automation component of brownfield upgrades and greenfield installations across fermentation and extraction plants.
- Translate process requirements (P&IDs, URS, narratives) into FSDs, I/O lists, control logic, and automation design packages.
- Configure and program automation systems (Yokogawa DCS), including graphics, sequences, and interlocks.
- Conduct and support FATs, SATs, loop checks, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
- Coordinate with external engineering partners/vendors on outsourced programming for greenfield projects.
- Ensure compliance with automation standards, alarm philosophy, instrumentation specifications, cybersecurity basics, and change control.
- Support commissioning and start‑up, resolve punch-lists, and ensure correct documentation handover.
- Collaborate with process, QA, operations, and EHS teams to ensure safe, compliant solutions.
- Contribute to the development of the new Engineering Excellence Centre by improving templates, coding standards, and best practices.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of automation engineering experience
- Process industry experience: Food & Beverage (preferred), GMP, Chemical, Oil & Gas, or FMCG.
- Hands‑on experience with programming/configuration, FSDs, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of process automation fundamentals
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and develop automation concepts from process input.
- Comfortable with on‑site presence; this is not a remote role.
- Proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and ability to work cross‑functionally.
