Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Category Manager to lead sourcing and procurement initiatives for our metal extrusion operations. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, optimizing category performance, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of raw materials, tooling, and services critical to our extrusion manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies for aluminum, copper, and specialty metal extrusions.
- Identify and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to align sourcing with technical requirements.
- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain risks to inform purchasing decisions.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Analyze spend data and implement KPIs to track category performance.
- Lead supplier audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and sustainability goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA or CPM/CPSM preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management, preferably in metals or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of metal extrusion processes, materials, and supply markets.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement analytics tools.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with international sourcing and logistics.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Understanding of sustainability and ESG considerations in sourcing.
