Electrical Project Engineer
We are partnering with a global provider of quality assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services to identify a Project Engineer for its Electrical Safety team. This position offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of industrial products, supporting compliance, testing, and certification activities that help manufacturers bring products to market safely and efficiently.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a blend of hands-on testing, problem-solving, client interaction, and technical project execution in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site and laboratory evaluations of industrial products to determine compliance with applicable safety standards
- Review engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
- Develop test plans and perform product safety testing using a variety of electrical and mechanical test equipment
- Execute tests related to electrical safety, environmental conditions, mechanical hazards, temperature, flammability, pressure, and other compliance requirements
- Perform preliminary design reviews and evaluate products against relevant regulatory and industry standards
- Compile test data, prepare technical reports, and document findings
- Communicate project status, technical results, and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines
- Travel to customer sites as needed to support testing and evaluation activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Experience testing industrial equipment, machinery, electrical systems, or related products
- Familiarity with electrical safety, product compliance, and regulatory testing processes
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Experience using electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, dielectric testers, and related tools
- Strong technical writing, communication, and analytical skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively as needed
Preferred
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation
- Previous project management experience
- Experience working with control panels, switchgear, switchboards, transformers, industrial skids, or similar industrial equipment
- Knowledge of North American and international safety standards, including ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, and IEC requirements
- Previous experience in product testing, certification, compliance, or regulatory engineering environments
