A leading national environmental services organization is seeking a Plant General Manager to oversee operations at one of its key facilities. This company specializes in the treatment, recycling, and beneficial reuse of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, serving customers across manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and commercial markets.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader from the hazardous waste industry with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
About the Role
The Plant General Manager will lead all plant operations, ensuring safe and compliant waste handling while driving productivity and team performance. Reporting to the Regional Plant Director, this individual will oversee staffing, safety, regulatory compliance, waste processing, facility management, and customer service. They will provide hands‑on leadership to supervisors and staff, ensuring the plant meets its operational and financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop plant teams through coaching, performance management, and daily oversight.
- Uphold all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to hazardous waste operations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols; address hazards and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Oversee inbound material management, waste processing activities, inventory control, and outbound shipments.
- Resolve customer issues with urgency to maintain high service levels.
- Manage plant budgets, facility maintenance, and capital expenditure requests.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a related field, including plant operations and logistics.
- Minimum 7 years of leadership experience, with strong people‑management skills.
- Hazardous waste industry experience required.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation logistics, and equipment/vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to analyze complex data, manage budgets, and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency with computer systems and plant management software.
- Experience with lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
