SUMMARY
A global manufacturing organization is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to support automation, instrumentation, and operational technology (OT) systems at a large chemical production facility. This position will play a key role in maintaining control system reliability, leading automation improvement projects, supporting plant operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support for plant-wide DCS, PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot automation, hardware, software, and network-related issues to maximize uptime and operational reliability.
- Lead control system upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects from design through commissioning.
- Support industrial networks, servers, remote I/O, and operator interface systems.
- Develop, maintain, and improve process control strategies and automation standards.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS teams to improve process performance and safety.
- Maintain control system documentation, including P&IDs, loop drawings, and network architecture records.
- Support management of change (MOC), process safety initiatives, and automation-related risk assessments.
- Train operators and plant personnel on automation systems and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, reduce obsolescence risks, and enhance plant performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with control systems coding, networking and sequencing
- Field support experience with troubleshooting panels and panel design
- Hands-on experience with DCS platforms, PLC programming, instrumentation, and industrial networking technologies.
- Chemical, specialty chemical, or continuous-process manufacturing experience preferred.
