Process Development R&D Engineer

As an R&D (Process Development) Engineer, you will take the lead in driving value engineering efforts. This includes initiatives aimed at optimizing costs and enhancing product value at the manufacturing level. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and apply engineering strategies that lower expenses, boost operational efficiency, and uphold or improve product quality. Success in this role requires close collaboration with teams across RDI, Operations, Procurement, and Quality to foster long-term value in our coffee production processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage engineering initiatives focused on enhancing product value and reducing costs across production.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies through ingredient changes, packaging improvements, process optimization, and equipment upgrades.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and validate efficiency improvements while ensuring product quality and compliance.
  • Analyze and resolve operational issues, conducting root cause investigations and applying corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Support capital investment projects, including equipment selection, process design, and evaluation of alternative materials with suppliers.

Skillset includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (chemical, food, or mechanical preferred)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in food production, ideally with a background in coffee or beverage manufacturing
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects focused on reducing costs or improving operational processes
  • Solid knowledge of food safety standards, quality assurance systems, and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, SQF)
  • Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and ability to communicate effectively across teams
  • Skilled in using data analysis tools and familiar with continuous improvement frameworks like Lean or Six Sigma
