Process Engineer (Food & Beverage)

This role plays a key part in supporting, optimizing, and improving liquid processing and packaging operations across multiple food and beverage manufacturing sites. You will provide technical expertise, drive improvements in Safety, Quality, and Reliability, and support the development of efficient, compliant, and scalable production processes.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical support and leadership across liquid processing and packaging systems, including products such as dairy, beverages, juices, and related formulations.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes to improve productivity, product quality, and operational safety.
  • Support process design and packaging initiatives for new product development and line expansions.
  • Lead and execute capital and process improvement projects, including budgeting, scheduling, equipment selection, and vendor/contractor coordination.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment, technologies, and process improvements through feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, support continuous improvement initiatives, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all processes and systems meet FDA regulations and applicable food safety, quality, and compliance standards (e.g., SQF, HACCP, GMP).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to support plant performance goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local engineering and food safety regulations.

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of process engineering experience within food and/or beverage manufacturing environments (dairy, beverage, or liquid processing preferred).
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality systems, and compliance requirements (FDA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, etc.).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Experience managing or supporting capital projects from concept through execution.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with process data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with aseptic, ESL (Extended Shelf Life), ultra-clean, or hot-fill processing technologies.
  • Background in hygienic design and sanitary processing systems.
  • Experience with high-speed liquid packaging equipment.
  • Prior exposure to multi-site manufacturing environments.
