QA Manager required for Food & Beverage Manufacturer

* Location: Greater Portland

We're looking for an experienced QA Manager to lead food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance programs within a manufacturing environment. This role will oversee quality systems, audits, risk management, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality teams while driving a strong food safety culture across the facility.

The QA / Technical Services Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead all food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance programs
  • Maintain and improve HACCP, Food Safety Plan (FSP), traceability, recall, and prerequisite programs
  • Prepare for and lead regulatory, third-party, customer, and certification audits
  • Manage non-conforming product investigations, corrective actions, and risk assessments
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, SSOPs, and quality documentation systems
  • Drive food safety culture initiatives and quality improvement programs across the facility
  • Lead consumer complaint investigations and implement preventive measures
  • Monitor quality metrics, analyze data, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Manage ingredient, packaging, sensory, and supplier quality programs
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for quality and laboratory teams
  • Partner with Operations and cross-functional teams to standardize processes and share best practices
  • Manage department budgets, resources, and cost improvement initiatives

The ideal QA / Technical Services Manager candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 3+ years of quality systems leadership experience within food manufacturing
  • HACCP, PCQI, and SQF Practitioner certifications required
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and quality management systems
  • Experience with regulatory, customer, and third-party audits
  • Strong root cause analysis, corrective action, and risk assessment capabilities
  • Advanced analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodologies preferred
  • Thermal Processing and Acidified Foods experience preferred
