About the Opportunity

A leading food and consumer products manufacturer is seeking a Regional EHS Specialist to support environmental compliance and wastewater treatment programs across a network of manufacturing facilities throughout the Midwest and Central United States.

This highly visible role will partner with plant leadership, engineering, operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to drive environmental compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource for wastewater treatment operations, helping facilities optimize performance, maintain regulatory compliance, and implement best practices across the network.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for industrial wastewater treatment systems and environmental compliance programs across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Support wastewater treatment operations through site assessments, performance reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead optimization efforts for lagoon treatment systems, dissolved air flotation (DAF), equalization systems, neutralization systems, and biological treatment processes.
  • Analyze operational and laboratory data to identify trends, resolve issues, and improve treatment system performance.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to evaluate process improvements and capital projects.
  • Support environmental permitting activities, regulatory inspections, compliance audits, and interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and standardize wastewater treatment procedures, operating practices, and compliance programs across multiple facilities.
  • Establish standards for monitoring programs, sampling procedures, recordkeeping, reporting, and operational performance metrics.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to operators, supervisors, and facility leadership teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency, reliability, compliance, and operating costs.
  • Travel throughout the region to support manufacturing facilities and drive environmental performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems.
  • Experience with wastewater permitting, regulatory compliance, inspections, and environmental audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
