Our client, a leading organisation in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buyer to join their procurement team in Zurich. In this role, you will drive sourcing strategy, optimise supplier performance, and ensure the reliable supply of materials and components essential to production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies aligned with production and business goals.
  • Conduct detailed market analysis, supplier assessments, and cost benchmarking.
  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process (RFI/RFP, negotiations, contracting, and supplier onboarding).
  • Manage supplier relationships and drive continuous improvements in quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, quality, and planning teams.
  • Analyse material demand and ensure supply availability through proactive planning and risk management.
  • Deliver cost‑saving initiatives, supplier development programmes, and long-term value projects.
  • Monitor commodity markets, supply chain risks, and industry developments.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, regulatory frameworks, and ESG standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong negotiation capability and proven experience improving cost and supplier performance.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain processes, category management, and supplier evaluation tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and procurement platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and decision-making skills.
  • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken) is required.
