Area Process Manager

A global leader in sustainable packaging solutions is seeking an Area Process Manager to oversee the Power and Recovery Department and ensure operations run at peak performance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable processes within a high-performing pulp and paper manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in safety, drive continuous improvement through 5S activities, and implement proactive maintenance strategies to optimize production and minimize downtime.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Power and Recovery Department, ensuring compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Diagnose and resolve operating issues related to recovery and power boilers, evaporators, turbine operations, air systems, and feedwater systems.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to staff, including the Operations Maintenance Coordinator, Technical Assistant, and Process Engineer, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Training & Development: Oversee the Training Coordinator and actively support employee development programs to enhance technical skills and operational knowledge.
  • Budget Management: Assist in planning and managing the annual budget for the Recovery Operating Department, ensuring cost efficiency and resource optimization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion 5S initiatives and proactive maintenance strategies to improve reliability, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and lead initiatives to maintain a zero-incident workplace.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the pulp & paper industry or power generation sector, with a proven track record of operational leadership.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of recovery and power systems, boilers, turbines, and related processes.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and motivational abilities to lead diverse teams and manage complex projects.
  • Technology Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with process control systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
