Category Manager
We are supporting a leading retailer in their search for a Category Manager to drive cost-effective and strategic procurement across capital expenditures (CapEx), facilities management, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO). This is a 60 day contract to permanent role.
Key Objectives
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for CapEx projects, facility services, and MRO supplies.
- Optimize supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to improve cost, quality, and service levels.
- Support operational teams by ensuring timely and efficient procurement of critical goods and services.
- Monitor category performance against budget and KPIs, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and vendor management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Facilities, Engineering, Operations, Finance) to understand business needs and align sourcing strategies.
- Lead RFP/RFI processes, supplier selection, and contract negotiations for CapEx and MRO categories.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure compliance, performance, and innovation.
- Analyze spend data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
- Maintain a 12-month procurement calendar for major CapEx initiatives and recurring MRO needs.
- Ensure procurement activities align with company policies, safety standards, and sustainability goals.
- Prepare and present category performance reports to senior leadership.
- Partner with Finance and FP&A to track budget adherence and forecast future spend.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to facilities and MRO.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. MBA preferred.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement.
- Proven track record managing CapEx, facilities services, and MRO categories.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and procurement analytics tools.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software
