Category Manager

A results-driven Category Manager is sought to lead procurement efforts within a highly collaborative Supply Chain team. This role will manage strategic sourcing across direct or indirect spend categories, with an emphasis on equipment and chemical sourcing, overseeing an annual budget between $50 million and $100 million. Reporting to the Senior Director of Procurement, the Category Manager will focus on supplier strategy, cost savings, risk mitigation, and contract performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category strategies with a strong focus on capital equipment and chemical procurement.

  • Analyze spend data at the SKU level to identify and drive cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned categories, particularly in equipment and chemicals, staying informed on supply markets and cost drivers.

  • Manage the full sourcing lifecycle including supplier selection, RFP issuance, negotiations, and contract management.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through regular performance reviews and strategic engagement.

  • Monitor contract compliance and support operational teams in identifying and implementing improvements.

  • Proactively identify risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to ensure continuity and resilience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain, with demonstrated success managing equipment and chemical categories.

  • Deep understanding of sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and contract management.

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes including demand planning, S&OP, and inventory management.

  • Proficient in analyzing large datasets using procurement tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE, Coupa).

  • Strong communication and presentation skills suitable for executive audiences.

  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM.

  • Experience in industries such as infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, or chemical production.

  • Financial fluency with the ability to connect sourcing decisions to business impact.

  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
