Controls Engineer
Position Overview
This role is responsible for the design, programming, configuration, procurement, construction, and installation of components that comprise a fully integrated security electronics system. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is classified as exempt from overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret customer specifications to design and develop integrated security control systems.
- Program and test security electronics equipment at correctional, commercial, and other facilities across the Midwest.
- Lead the commissioning and startup of security electronics systems for assigned projects.
- Communicate professionally and diplomatically with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Demonstrate strong project ownership with minimal supervision, applying solid project management skills.
- Maintain positive budget performance across assigned project functions.
- Supervise field technicians and temporary labor as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recent hands-on experience with PLC programming and HMI development.
- Proven experience in integrated systems design.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Technical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of security electronics hardware, including but not limited to:
- Door locking systems
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Intercom communication systems
