EHS Manager

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of systems, processes, and practices that foster a strong safety culture and ensure a healthy, injury-free workplace. This role works closely with site leadership to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations, as well as internal company standards. The position reports directly to the Plant General Manager.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance to leadership in shaping and executing the EHS vision and long-term plan.
  • Develop and maintain the facility's EHS risk profile.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs, including risk assessments, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, machine safety, fire prevention, emergency response, and contractor safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date EHS policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Develop tools and systems to support EHS monitoring and reporting for supervisors and managers.
  • Track and follow up on corrective actions related to EHS incidents or audits.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate EHS performance.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis, coaching leaders through the process.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive measures and recommend improvements.
  • Lead or support EHS training initiatives, including technical instruction and leadership mentoring.
  • Facilitate and guide safety committees and employee involvement groups.
  • Oversee chemical management, including product approval and compliance with OSHA Hazard Communication Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Relevant EHS certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field

Experience

  • 5-7+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and compliance practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience supporting new facility startups is a plus
