Role Summary
The Global Indirect Lead - Engineering will be responsible for developing and executing a centralized sourcing strategy for engineering-related indirect spend, with a strong focus on the chemical manufacturing industry. This role will manage global vendor relationships, source mechanical and electrical spare parts, and support process and packing lines. The position requires a proven track record in vendor development and strategic procurement within the chemical sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the global sourcing strategy for MRO and engineering equipment (~$80-100m spend), with potential for growth.
- Source mechanical and electrical spare parts for process and packing lines used in chemical manufacturing.
- Establish and maintain strategic vendor relationships, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with regional procurement and engineering teams to align sourcing strategies with operational needs.
- Negotiate and manage supply agreements, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and standards.
- Implement 4PL models for engineering consumables and manage logistics for equipment delivery and commissioning.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization, and process improvement across global indirect categories.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for technical non-conformance and supply disruptions.
- Facilitate communication between Chinese suppliers and global engineering teams, requiring fluency in English and Chinese.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior category management role within the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing products and spare parts for chemical production lines.
- Proven success in establishing and managing vendor relationships in a global procurement environment.
- Strong supplier network, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Prior experience in procurement operations and spend management for a similar size.
