Maintenance Manager (M/F/D)
Our client is a well-established operator within the heavy manufacturing sector, with multiple production facilities and a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality products to both national and international standards. Their operations utilise modern, energy-efficient technologies, and they are continuing to invest in performance, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a strong safety culture across site, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and internal safety frameworks
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, including mechanical and electrical supervisors, planners, and technicians
- Coach and develop team members through training, mentoring, and hands-on leadership
- Embed a preventative and predictive maintenance culture to optimise reliability and reduce downtime
- Plan and deliver maintenance projects, including major shutdowns and overhauls
- Manage external contractors, plant hire, and associated budgets
- Maintain effective relationships with Trade Unions and support resolution of any issues through structured processes
- Collaborate closely with production and other departments to align operational activities
- Oversee key plant assets, including kiln operations and major equipment maintenance
- Manage projects from design through to installation and commissioning
- Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required
- KPIs: HSE performance, plant uptime & availability, maintenance cost control, production output, etc
- Internal and external stakeholder management
Candidate Profile
- Degree (Level 8/9 or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of both engineering and commercial principles
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within heavy industry or manufacturing
- Strong leadership and team development capability
- Proven technical expertise in maintenance and plant operations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Financial awareness with experience managing departmental budgets
- Strong IT skills (MS Office and maintenance systems)
- High attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Track record of driving performance improvements in previous roles
