Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager
Location: Greater Kearny, NE Area
Summary
Responsible for implementing the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) strategy and serving as the registered Safety Officer and Fire Safety Manager for all sites. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement HSE strategy and recommend annual budget.
- Supervise and develop direct reports, including performance evaluation and disciplinary actions.
- Lead and guide the site HSE committee.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate hazardous conditions and environmental risks.
- Conduct HSE audits, training sessions, and meetings; develop action plans and follow up on corrective measures.
- Maintain effective emergency response plans and organize drills.
- Liaise with local authorities and manage license renewals.
- Investigate HSE incidents and non-conformances; track corrective and preventive actions to closure.
- Review and update internal HSE policies and practices to ensure compliance and relevance.
- Implement HSE management systems to control risk and drive continual improvement.
- Support facility or equipment relocations from an HSE perspective.
- Collect, analyze, and report HSE KPIs, including improvement plans.
- Partner with functional leaders to create a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with global HSE teams to enhance safety culture and systems.
- Ensure effective incident reporting, investigation, and best practice sharing.
- Recommend controls for accident prevention and ergonomic hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience ensuring compliance with local HSE legislation.
- Experience in industrial production environments preferred.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage relationships with authorities and contractors.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of emergency response and fire safety protocols.
Travel
- Approximately 5% (up to 13 business days per year).
