Mechanical Engineer
DSJ Global is currently partnered with a specialty chemical manufacturer who is looking to add a new Mechanical Engineer to their team in Hattiesburg, MS. The Mechanical Engineer will oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with safety and mechanical integrity standards. Additionally, the position drives cost-reduction and sustainability projects while managing capital improvements to optimize plant performance and reliability.
Essential Duties
- Provide leadership for Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) initiatives and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance processes, including planning, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Manage contractor activities and ensure adherence to company standards.
- Drive reliability improvements to reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for rotating and fixed equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend repair or replacement strategies.
- Maintain mechanical integrity programs in compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
- Review inspection results and initiate corrective actions to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Administer site vibration and lubrication programs, including technician training and data analysis.
- Develop and execute capital and expense projects, ensuring safe and timely startups within budget.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction and sustainability projects to lower the site's carbon footprint.
- Maintain accurate equipment records and ensure audit readiness for compliance documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical or refinery environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, preventive/predictive maintenance, and reliability techniques.
- Familiarity with PSM regulations and standards (OSHA 1910.119, API-510, API-570, API-653).
- Technical expertise in rotating and fixed equipment, welding, fabrication, and non-destructive testing.
