Plant Electrical Engineer

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the engineering, reliability, maintenance oversight, and operation of all incoming plant power distribution and electrical services. This role serves as the technical owner of the facility's electrical infrastructure and plays a critical role in executing capital projects, supporting production, and partnering closely with maintenance and operations teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.

This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and support the plant power distribution systems, including incoming power, substations, switchgear, transformers, and downstream electrical infrastructure.
  • Lead and execute capital and non-capital electrical projects, including power distribution upgrades, equipment additions, lighting improvements, conduit and cable installations, and electrical technology enhancements.
  • Coordinate and manage electrical contractors, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Provide engineering support to production and maintenance teams for troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with operations to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and electrical safety performance.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for motors, drives, transformers, and electrical assets.
  • Ensure all electrical systems and projects comply with plant standards, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Act as a technical resource across departments, supporting process improvements and plant optimization efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET).
  • Working knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, AC/DC motors, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
  • Experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical systems and substations.
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley and/or GE PLC platforms
