Plant Manager - Industrial Manufacturing (Atlanta, GA)

Location: Greater Atlanta, GA

Compensation: $130,000-$170,000 base salary + performance bonus

Role Overview

The Plant Manager leads all plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, and workforce management. You will own performance across throughput, uptime, yield, labor, cost, and operational KPIs-mirroring the leadership expectations of top Georgia manufacturing employers.

This is a hands-on, floor-engaged leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, mechanical understanding, and the ability to build and motivate teams across multiple shifts.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead full plant operations including production, scheduling, inventory movement, labor oversight, and shift execution.
  • Ensure the plant meets or exceeds KPI targets across yield, uptime, throughput, quality, scrap, cost, and labor efficiency-core metrics used by leading industrial manufacturers in Georgia.
  • Oversee maintenance and reliability programs, including PM schedules, mechanical troubleshooting, and long-term asset health.
  • Maintain safe, efficient operation of industrial equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical systems), aligned with requirements seen in Georgia steel and industrial manufacturing roles.

Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as a visible leader of all OSHA safety programs, enforcing a zero-injury environment.
  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause corrective actions.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and support facility audits.

People Leadership

  • Manage and develop supervisors, leads, technicians, and operators across multiple shifts.
  • Build a culture of accountability, problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure consistent communication across teams and drive a unified set of operating standards.

Continuous Improvement / Lean

  • Lead Lean, 5S, waste elimination, and root-cause problem-solving initiatives.
  • Identify bottlenecks, redesign workflows, and optimize plant layout as needed.
  • Drive improvements across throughput, changeover reduction, materials flow, and production sequencing.

Financial & Strategic Leadership

  • Manage plant budgets, cost controls, and capital projects.
  • Build annual operational plans in partnership with leadership.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and capacity scaling initiatives.
  • Use KPI dashboards, structured performance reviews, and daily Gemba-style walk routines (mirroring practices in leading GA plants).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, building materials, metals, steel fabrication, plastics, or engineered products.
  • Demonstrated success leading a 24/5 or 24/7 operation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience overseeing industrial equipment
  • Experience improving KPIs tied to throughput, efficiency, labor utilization, scrap, safety, and quality.
  • Strong communication, team-building, and change-leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Georgia's core industrial segments (steel structures, building materials, insulation manufacturing, industrial components).
  • Lean/Six Sigma training or certification.
  • Experience managing capital expenditure projects.
  • Background in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
