Polymer & Thermoplastics Scientist / Engineer (M/F/D)

We are supporting a fast‑growing company that is reshaping how polymer and thermoplastic products are developed and scaled.

This role sits within a small Technology & Innovation team, working closely with production, marketing and supply‑chain teams in the United States. The focus is on accelerating product and formulation development by connecting polymer chemistry, processing knowledge and data - not running traditional lab‑based R&D.

If you enjoy thinking end‑to‑end, working cross‑functionally and turning data into better decisions earlier in development, this role offers a rare opportunity to make visible impact.

Responsibilities

  • Translate thermoplastic formulation and processing knowledge into faster, more predictable product development
  • Support the development of membranes and building‑envelope materials, linking chemistry with material flow and processing behaviour
  • Work with production and test data (formulations, parameters, performance results) to identify trends, optimise designs and reduce iteration cycles
  • Collaborate closely with US‑based colleagues in production, marketing and supply chain to ensure innovation adds real business value
  • Interface with internal data science and digital innovation teams to feed the right inputs and interpret results (no programming required)
  • Take ownership of development topics end‑to‑end, from early concept through scale‑up support

Requirements

  • Background in polymers or materials science, with strong exposure to thermoplastics
  • Practical understanding of formulation, processing and material behaviour (e.g. flow, moulding, membranes, extrusion or films)
  • Comfortable working without a local laboratory, using analysis, structure and collaboration to create value
  • Interest in modelling, data‑driven development or predictive approaches (hands‑on coding is not required)
  • Not highly academic - this role suits someone hands‑on, pragmatic and commercially aware
  • Typically 3+ years' experience in industrial R&D, product development or applications
  • Fluent in English; willingness to collaborate across time zones and travel (~20%)

Why Consider This Role

  • Join a newly independent business with the scale of a large group and the agility of a company being actively built
  • Work in a small, visible innovation team where your contribution is recognised
  • Influence products used at large industrial scale across North America
  • Shape how polymer development is done - not just deliver another formulation
  • High autonomy, strong ownership and clear business relevance
