Role: Process Development Manager - Liquid Formulations (Emulsions & Thermal Processing)
Location: Lehigh Valley, PA
Salary: $155,000-$180,000
A fast-growing consumer products manufacturer is seeking a Process Development Manager to lead scale-up, process design, and commercialization efforts for a wide range of liquid and semi-liquid products. This is a senior management role based in the Lehigh Valley manufacturing region, offering relocation support for qualified candidates.
The Process Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Directing process development activities from early pilot work through successful commercial launch.
- Developing robust processing strategies for emulsions, thermal operations, and high-shear mixing systems.
- Overseeing trial design, execution, and analysis, and converting technical findings into validated production methods.
- Partnering cross-functionally with Formulation, Operations, Quality, Packaging, and Supply Chain teams to ensure launch readiness and process reliability.
- Leading root-cause investigations tied to stability concerns, thermal sensitivity, viscosity control, and throughput challenges.
- Contributing to equipment selection, defining process requirements, and supporting commissioning and scale-up of new technology.
- Managing and developing a team of engineers and technicians, building long-term technical capability across the department.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- 8+ years of experience in process development, manufacturing engineering, or scale-up roles within CPG, personal care, home care, or liquid chemical products.
- At least 3 years in a leadership, supervisory, or project management capacity.
- Demonstrated experience scaling liquid formulations involving mixing, emulsification, or thermal processing.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex technical programs and product launches.
- Experience working with internal production facilities and/or external manufacturers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to guide stakeholders across technical and operational functions.
