The Quality Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve issues both internally and from customer feedback, including field returns, through investigation, evaluation, and implementation of corrective actions. Support the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process.
- Analyze data trends to identify areas for quality and process improvement.
- Perform internal and external audits to ensure adherence to established procedures and specifications.
- Collaborate with customers and source inspectors to fulfill contractual obligations related to data analysis, audits, inspections, and product testing.
- Coordinate quality planning efforts with Engineering and Program Management for proposals and prospective contracts.
- Assist in maintaining and improving inspection systems, checklists, procedures, and policies to meet ISO 9000, AS 9100, ISO 14000, and customer-specific requirements.
- Work cross-functionally with teams across Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Program Management, and Human Resources to support organizational goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, vendors, suppliers, source inspectors, DCAS representatives, FAA/regulatory agencies, and internal departments-including inspectors, testers, assemblers, directors, managers, supervisors, and engineers.
The ideal Quality Engineer candidate will have the following skillset:
- High school diploma required, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control is highly desirable.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within 2 years.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communicator, capable of conveying technical information clearly through written, verbal, and presentation formats.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, essential for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma training is a plus.
- Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry standards and products is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel for customer, supplier, or project-related engagements as needed.
