Position Overview

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading procurement activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services that support production and business operations. This role oversees a procurement team and focuses on optimizing supplier relationships, purchasing processes, and inventory strategies to meet business objectives while maintaining quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Oversee and manage the procurement team, providing leadership, development, and performance guidance
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team environment
  • Supervise personnel decisions related to purchasing and inventory management
  • Implement and train team members on new tools, systems, and procurement processes

Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Manage all purchasing activities across materials and services
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external partners
  • Analyze purchasing trends, demand forecasts, and inventory levels to optimize planning
  • Monitor forecast consumption and adjust purchasing to minimize risk and excess inventory
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and drive continuous process improvements
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within ERP systems
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to support new product launches and operational changes
  • Evaluate and improve procurement processes, workflows, and compliance standards
  • Monitor market trends and supply chain risks impacting pricing and availability
  • Support inventory management initiatives and financial forecasting efforts
  • Expedite, delay, or cancel purchase orders based on business needs
  • Engage with internal stakeholders across supply chain, operations, and leadership

General

  • Support implementation of new tools, systems, and technologies
  • Communicate key insights, risks, and performance updates to leadership
  • Participate in industry events, supplier meetings, and trade shows
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned categories or suppliers
  • Support special projects and additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage teams
  • Strong expertise in procurement, sourcing, and supplier management
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution environments
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to operate with urgency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Experience working with ERP systems in complex environments

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles
  • Prior experience managing or leading a team
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers is preferred
