Senior Procurement Specialist - Direct Materials
About the Role
An established and innovative company in the chemical manufacturing sector is seeking a Senior Procurement professional to join its Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives and managing the procurement of chemicals across the U.S. and Canada. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills, along with a deep understanding of the chemical supply market.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for supply consolidation and competitive sourcing through detailed spend data analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manufacturing plants to maintain an effective and reliable supply base.
- Support purchase orders for U.S. and Canadian plants; experience with E-Procurement platforms preferred.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies based on market trends and supplier capabilities.
- Ensure competitive pricing, high quality, and service levels for all procurement activities.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure compliance with company policies and sustainability goals.
- Track and report supplier performance metrics; lead performance reviews and improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and present market trends and supplier insights to internal stakeholders.
- Conduct presentations, lead workshops, and foster strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in chemical strategic sourcing.
- Clear achievements in negotiations and strategic sourcing projects, with a record of cost savings in previous positions.
- Familiarity with the chemical manufacturing industry and supply chain best practices.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as Datacor, Oracle, SAP, or Navision.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
